Has the Republican Party lost Independents and Moderate Republicans to the Right Wing and Conservatives?

It seems that no one is running the Republican party and all you see these days are the Right Wingers speaking for the party and controlling the message? Most Americans polled consider the far right wing as "crazy". Not to be confused with your every day Conservative Republican. While the Right Wingers make up less than 10% and the Conservatives another 25% that leaves the rest of the Republicans, where will they go? Will they go to the Democratic party and join the so called "Blue Dogs" or will they go to the Independents and have no party affiliation. Either way is does not look very good for the Republican party. How can they take back the party from the far right?
