Why is the US so hypocritical when it comes to Israel?

So Palestine is trying very hard to controll Hamas, and make peace talks, while Israel, as usuall from many Jewish people, only care for themselves and decide they will keep building settlements even if the whole international community condemns it, even the US. Then how come, the US if they are such big saviors ( i.e. rescued Irak from Saddam ) how come they don't go and stop the Israelis from doing genocide to the Palestinians???
