What would happen if mitosis did not occur correctly?

An error in mitosis will always effect the daughter cells. How the cells are effected depends on when and where the error occurs. If DNA is not replicated correctly mutations will form often resulting in cancer. Errors later in mitosis, such as unequal distribution of replicated DNA or organelles will most likely result in death for one or both daughter cells
