I have a large bee on my porch!?

First off, I live in Tennessee and in an townhouse with lots of trees and plants outside my back porch. I was sitting on my porch, which is all wooden, and i see a very large bee buzzing really loud. It was about an inch- inch 1/2 or so. It seemed to be bald and very shiny. It was hoovering around one corner of my railing. It was mostly yellow but it had some black. I didnt stick around to get any more details because I was way too scary. It had a very bulbous body, which looks very much like a bee, but ive never seen one so large. What is it and how do I keep it away from me!?
